Colonoscopy
A colonoscopy is used for colorectal cancer screening, surveillance for a history of colon polyps or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and diagnostic evaluation of symptoms such as rectal bleeding, changes in bowel habits, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or unexplained anemia. Colonoscopy allows your provider to examine the colon, identify abnormalities, and remove polyps when needed.

An EGD, or upper endoscopy, is used to evaluate the esophagus, stomach, and upper small intestine for conditions such as acid reflux, difficulty swallowing, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or unexplained anemia. During the procedure, your provider can identify inflammation, ulcers, bleeding, or other abnormalities and may take biopsies or perform treatment when needed.
